World Wide (Clean) Web

If there’s one lesson learned from the Cleanweb Hackathon and similar efforts, it’s that the Internet is a very powerful tool. New apps, websites, and programs can be used not just to entertain or inform, but also to improve infrastructure and behaviors.

In a post from Treehugger, Gavin Starks from AMEE outlines how useful the web can be for spearheading clean and efficient energy and technology initiatives. Says Starks, “Using the web to reveal environmental intelligence will help us understand the scale of our global environmental problems and, crucially, make it personal so that direct actions are easy to see, easy to engage with, and have a genuine impact.”

Starks posits that these web-based applications can help individuals to make better choices. “Environmental intelligence is for everyone.”
