GE's SmartBurn™ Technology option utilizes several GE technologies present on the Evolution™ Series Locomotive: adaptive control, the GEVO-12 engine, and geo-fencing capabilities to enhance a locomotive operator's ability to meet railroad emission requirements that may vary by location. Geo-fencing is an industry term used to describe the creation of digital boundaries around geographic areas.
