GE’s eBoost software improves the efficiency of GE’s 225-750 kVA SG Series Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) modules from 92-94% to 98-99%. When utility power quality – which eBoost continuously monitors – fails to meet data center requirements, eBoost activates the UPS rectifier/inverter within 2 ms. The eBoost software also increases reliability and redundancy by enabling up to six UPS modules in parallel operation and eliminating single points of failure.

Environmental Benefits
GE's eBoost software improves GE's 225-750 kVA SG Series Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) efficiency from 92-94% to 98-99% by activating the UPS rectifier/inverter only when utility power quality falls outside of data center power quality requirements, reducing the time spent in less efficient double conversion mode. For a typical enterprise-class data center with a 5 MW load, this can reduce annual energy consumption by over 3.6 million kWh, avoiding over 2000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually on the US grid, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of over 400 cars on US roads, assuming 50% cooling effectiveness and 50% operating load for typical data center.
