Premium Efficient Ultra Motors

All GE X$D Ultra premium efficiency motors are enclosed fan-cooled industrial AC motors ranging from 1 to 300 horsepower that exceed the governmental EPAct Efficiency standards and meet or exceed the National Electric Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) Premium Nominal Efficiency Standards. The high efficiency design, low temperature rise, and vibration level of GE X$D Ultra motors reduce electricity use and associated emissions on the power grid versus Pre-EPAct or EPAct efficient motors and make them ideal for the harshest environments in a variety of industries including oil refineries, steel and paper mills, and cement and mining.

Environmental Benefits

Due to the higher efficiency design of GE X$D Ultra premium efficiency motors, if half of the industrial users in the U.S. replaced one 100-hp 1,800 RPM Pre-EPAct motor with a comparable GE X$D Ultra motor, approximately 5.7 million metric tons of CO2 emissions on the U.S. grid would be avoided per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of 1.1 million cars on U.S. roads.

Operating Benefits

Due to its higher efficiency design, lower temperature rise, and lower vibration level, installing a GE X$D Ultra premium efficiency motor, which has a 20-year design life under normal operating and maintenance conditions, can result in a significant savings over the life of the motor. For example, a 50-hp GE X$D Ultra motor could save more than $16,000 in electricity costs over the life of the motor or more than 5 times its initial price compared to a Pre-EPAct motor, assuming an industrial electricity rate of $0.07 per kWh.
