Environmental Benefits
GE's PowerHaul™ Locomotive is designed to be more fuel-efficient than other lightweight heavy haul locomotives in the European market today. When operating at full utilization under a typical duty cycle, a GE PowerHaul™ Locomotive could avoid emissions of approximately 150 metric tons of CO2, 7 metric tons of NOx, and 0.18 metric tons of particulate matter per year.
Operating Benefits
GE's PowerHaul™ Locomotive is designed to be more fuel-efficient than other lightweight heavy haul locomotives in the European market today. With EU Stage IIIa-qualified engines, GE's PowerHaul™ Locomotive can reduce fuel consumption by at least 6% compared to UIC Stage II-compliant locomotives when operating at full utilization under a typical duty cycle, saving over 55,000 liters of fuel annually, or approximately €60,000 in diesel fuel costs per year at €1.10 per liter.
