GE’s ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery generates additional electricity for a simple cycle natural gas turbine in a power generation or mechanical drive application without increasing fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions across a wider range of operating conditions compared to standard combined cycle systems. The physical properties of the ORegen™ System’s working fluid allow gas turbine waste heat capture without consuming water, enabling operations at lower ambient temperatures, lower gas turbine loads, and without on-site manned supervision.

Environmental Benefits
GE's ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery generates additional electricity for a simple cycle natural gas turbine without increasing fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions, without consuming water, and across a wider range of operating conditions compared to standard combined cycle systems. For a 26-MW GE MS5001 natural gas turbine operating at 90% load, the ORegen™ System is designed to increase power output by 11.3 MW or 90,000 MWh per year without consuming additional water or fuel. This avoids 9,800 cubic meters of water consumption per year and more than 29,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions on the European grid per year, or the annual CO2 emissions of more than 15,000 cars on European roads.
