ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery

GE’s ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery is designed to generate additional electricity for a simple cycle natural gas turbine in a power generation or mechanical drive application across a wider range of operating conditions compared to standard combined cycle systems, without increasing fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions. The physical properties of the ORegen™ System’s working fluid allow gas turbine waste heat capture without consuming water, enabling operations at lower ambient temperatures, lower gas turbine loads, and without on-site manned supervision.

Environmental Benefits

GE's ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery is designed to generate additional electricity for a simple cycle natural gas turbine across a wider range of operating conditions compared to standard combined cycle systems, without consuming additional water or increasing fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions. Equipping a 26-MW GE MS5001 natural gas turbine operating at 90% load with GE's ORegen™ System is designed to increase power output by 10.5 MW or 84,000 MWh per year without consuming additional water or fuel. This avoids more than 9,100 cubic meters of water consumption per year and more than 27,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions on the European grid per year, or the annual CO2 emissions of more than 15,500 cars on European roads.
