Environmental Benefits
GE's T5 Watt-Miser® fluorescent lamps and ballast systems use less electricity and result in lower CO2 emissions on the power grid compared to the T5 fixtures they are designed to replace. For example, replacing 300 standard T5 (4 lamp) fixtures in a warehouse with 300 GE High Output T5 Watt-Miser® lamps utilizing UltraStart® T5 Watt-Miser® Ballasts could avoid over 25 metric tons of CO2 emissions on the US grid annually, equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by approximately 7 acres of southeastern U.S. forest per year.
Operating Benefits
GE's T5 Watt-Miser® fluorescent lamps and ballast systems have lower electricity costs than the T5 fixtures they are designed to replace, while providing longer life, higher efficiency, and excellent color rendering. For example, replacing 300 standard T5 (4 lamp) fixtures in a warehouse with 300 GE High Output T5 Watt-Miser® fluorescent lamps utilizing UltraStart® T5 Watt-Miser® Ballasts could save over $4,700 per year in electricity costs, or approximately $30,000 in electricity costs over the expected life of the lamps, at $0.11 per kWh.
