Environmental Benefits
GE's HabiTEQ™ hybrid automation system combines wired and wireless monitoring and control technologies designed to enable energy efficiency improvements in European homes and commercial buildings without automation systems. For a typical 5,000 m2 office building utilizing energy control systems as defined by EU building efficiency standards, HabiTEQ™ is designed to reduce energy consumption by up to 13% on lighting and up to 20% on heating, or a total of over 191,000 kWh per year. This can avoid the emission of approximately 42 metric tons of CO2 on the European grid and from a building heating system, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of about 18 passenger cars on EU roads.
Operating Benefits
GE's HabiTEQ™ hybrid automation system combines wired and wireless monitoring and control technologies designed to enable energy efficiency improvements in European homes and commercial buildings without automation systems. For a typical 5,000 m2 office building utilizing energy control systems as defined by EU building efficiency standards, a HabiTEQ™ solution designed to optimize energy use as a function of occupancy and daylight can reduce energy consumption by up to 13% on lighting and up to 20% on heating or a total of over 191,000 kWh per year. This can save about €9,800 in annual energy costs at an electricity price of €0.10 per kWh and a natural gas price of €0.046 per kWh.
