FuelEx NGL Recovery Skid

GE’s FuelEx is an auxiliary system designed to separate heavy hydrocarbons or natural gas liquids (NGLs) from fuel gas in turbocompressor applications along gas pipelines. This enables a higher concentration of methane to be burned inside the gas turbine before the separated liquids are returned to the pipeline, reducing unnecessary combustion of NGLs along the pipeline and increasing the NGL recovery rate at the end of the pipeline. NGLs can then be sold and used in the production of hundreds of industrial products including plastics, paints, rubber, fertilizers, detergents and solvents, as well as fuels.

Environmental Benefits

GE's FuelEx system is designed to separate heavy hydrocarbons or natural gas liquids (NGLs) from fuel gas, enabling higher NGL recovery at the end of the pipeline. This raises the methane content of the fuel gas burned by turbines along the pipeline, lowering the pipeline operator's CO2 emissions. In one customer application, an installation of 14 FuelEx systems on a North American pipeline with 25MW turbines is designed to reduce CO2 emissions for the pipeline operator by 40,000 metric tons per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of over 7,800 cars on US roads.
