GE's Evolution Series Tier 2+ Emissions Kit is designed to enable Tier 2 compliant locomotives to meet US EPA Tier 2+ emissions requirements, while using 3% less fuel per horsepower-hour than Tier 2 locomotives when operating at full utilization under a typical duty cycle (AAR). This can reduce CO2 emissions by over 75 metric tons per locomotive per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of approximately 14 cars on US roads. This can also reduce particulate matter emissions by 0.47 tons per locomotive per year, equivalent to the annual particulate matter emissions of approximately 17 single-unit trucks on US roads.
